Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, the CV SBDC is one of 29 centers across Virginia providing professional business consulting, training and information resources to help grow and strengthen Virginia businesses. The CV SBDC offers free business counseling services, assists with feasibility studies and business planning, sponsors seminars and training, and provides information and other services to area small and mid-sized businesses. The center is hosted by the Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development. The Central Virginia SBDC serves the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and Orange. Appointments are required for counseling and we now offer appointments in Louisa, Nelson, Orange, and Greene counties. The CV SBDC receives programmatic and financial support from the U. S. Small Business Administration, George Mason University, the Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development, the University of Virginia, the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Greene County, Louisa County, Nelson County, and Orange County. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is partially funded under a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. What We Do
The Virginia SBDC Network is committed to strengthening Virginia’s economy by assisting small business. By helping these businesses become viable and successful in the long term, the SBDC can facilitate economic development within the areas it serves. Impact on Virginia’s economy is measured in several ways. Through its counseling sessions and training seminars, the SBDC strives to create and retain small business employment, to increase capital investment in area businesses, and to improve small business sales and profits. The Central Virginia SBDC fulfills this mission by providing area businesses with professional, one-on-one management counseling in a variety of financial, marketing, and operational areas as well as through sponsorship of training seminars. The CV SBDC also assists pre-venture and existing businesses in developing their business plans which include market analysis, creating financial projections, and identifying capital needs.
